Wireless Adapter Random Disconnect? Here's a Quick Fix That Maybe Worked For You
So, my wireless adapter experienced a random disconnect from several days ago. Strangely it only happened in my home. So I googled for a fix and here's what i found :
2. choose properties
3. click on Device Manager
1. right click on My Computer / This PC
3. click on Device Manager
4. search your wireless adapter in the network adapters section (in my case it's Atheros AR9002WB-1NG), after you found it, right click and select properties.
5. go to the 'Power Management" tab and uncheck the 'Allow the computer to turn off....' option.
Check if the problem still occurs. If it's stopped, congratulations! Because actually this fix is not working for me even though it's working on several people's laptop. So I searched for another solution and I stumbled upon an information that maybe the random disconnection is caused by an interference. So I checked wireless connections that received by my laptop using this software and it turns out that my router and my neighbor's router are using the same channel. So I changed my router channel and this time my wireless adapter problem is really gone.
The picture above is the example of WirelessNetView UI that shows you the channel number of each routers. The 2 routers at the bottom is mine, I dunno why it produces 2 signal, maybe because my router have 2 antennas. I changed my channel number to 10 (it was 6 before) to reduce the interference and it worked.
How to change your router channel? Well, it really depends on your router. But I think it's quite easy, just access your router IP and check all the settings for channel option. Below are the example of my router (RT-N12HP) channel configuration.
Hope this helps :)
