Steam Summer Sale: To Buy or Not To Buy

"A man buy things he need at double price while a woman buy things she doesn't need at half price" Ever heard that statement? Probably it's true most of the time, but certainly it's not the case when Steam summer sale is on!

It's Steam summer sale! You scrolled within Steam store page, excitingly looking through every game that discounted. Of course you have heard some of them and couldn't wait to try those games. The price tag combined with a positive review make a game very tempting to be bought.

I've been in this phenomenon twice; this Steam summer sale is the 2nd. In the first time I exposed to Steam summer sale I spent about 30$. I consider that as a waste of money and very impulsive buying because in the end I didn't play all of them. So from that experience I want to share some tips before you buy a game in Steam summer sale:
  1. Read through the review carefully. Reading a review could give you a big picture about the games (like genre, etc) and also inform you a very specific information such as visual or technical bug.
  2. Watch the gameplay video and decide if the game is really suits you or not. After you know the genre from the tag/review you should check the gameplay to give you a more specific features about the game. Sometimes Steam doesn't provide a gameplay video. In that case, don't be lazy and search it on Youtube, I'm sure there's plenty of them
  3. Okay, now you have a good idea about the game. In case you're still interested, check if you really will play the game. Do you have time to play the game? Or you already reserved some of your time to play another game you bought earlier? If you don't have the time to play the game, maybe it's time for you to refrain yourself from buying. Steam summer sale will be available next year so you have another opportunity to buy it. Don't think it's a loss to not buying it.
I think that's all. I hope my tips are useful :). Happy shopping!
